HOW to MEASURE

your HEAD FOR A WIG

Learn the exact measurements needed for ordering your perfect-fitting wig.

What You'll Need:

Soft measuring tape (fabric/sewing tape)

Pen and paper to record measurements

Hair clips or ties to secure your hair flat against your head (if you have hair)

A friend to help (recommended but not required)

Mirror (if measuring yourself)

Calculator (optional, for averaging multiple measurements)

Essential Measurements

  • Circumference: Place the measuring tape around your head, starting at your hairline in front, going behind your ear, around the back of your head at the nape of your neck, behind your other ear, and back to your front hairline. This should be about 21-24 inches for most adults.
  • Front to Nape: Start at your front hairline (center of forehead) and measure back over the crown to the nape of your neck where your hair ends.
  • Ear to Ear (across forehead): Measure from the front hairline above one ear, across your forehead, to the front hairline above your other ear.
  • Ear to Ear (over top): Measure from your left temple, over the crown of your head, to your right temple.
  • Temple to Temple (around back): Measure from your left temple, around the back of your head, to your right temple.
  • Nape of Neck: Measure across the nape of your neck from one ear to the other.

Tips for Accurate Measurements

  • Keep the measuring tape snug but not tight
  • If possible, have someone help you measure for better accuracy
  • Take each measurement twice to verify
  • If you have some hair, flatten it as much as possible for accurate measurements.
  • Write down all measurements.
